‘Friendship’ Coin.

When San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance approached me about designing a commemorative coin, I jumped at the unique opportunity. The coin, hand-delivered to the Giant Panda conservation officials in China, expressed appreciation for the long-term, Chinese/San Diego Zoo friendship. That relationship resulted in, among other things, removing the beautiful giant panda from the endangered species list. It is a tiny but favorite project that accompanied a much larger SRD effort on behalf of SDZWA and the Giant Panda. That project, a coffee table book entitled ‘The Importance of Pandas,’ can be seen here:
